The Full Story

About Me

I am a graduate of the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in both Special Education and Art Education and over 20 years of experience in several different metro-Atlanta school districts.  Prior to my work in Advocacy, I taught every grade level, from kindergarten through the 12th grade, in both the resource setting, inclusion/co-taught setting, as well as the adapted/separate setting. I served in the role of case manager to over 180 students with special needs over the years.

In addition to my time in the public-school setting, I also worked for the Georgia Network of Educational Therapeutic Supports (GNETS), providing academic as well as intensive social, emotional, and behavioral life skills learning to students in the psycho-educational setting. Outside of my days working within the school system, I have provided individualized tutoring sessions in the evenings.  I also have experience working “behind the scenes” for the Director of Special Education at the district level.

Eventually, I came to the realization that my experience and expertise were better suited to supporting parents and students outside of the constraints of the public school system, where I could speak freely and provide more heart-centered support.

Mission

My mission is to empower and support individuals with disabilities and their families, through advocacy, supportive coaching, and personalized tutoring. I strive to ensure equitable access to education, promote inclusion, and foster a nurturing environment where every learner can thrive and reach their full potential. I work hard to advocate for the rights and educational needs of individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the appropriate support and resources to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, & behaviorally. I guide parents in fostering their children’s development, helping them cultivate self-worth, compassion, and responsible behavior, while preparing them for independence and success in life. I provide personalized, engaging, and effective tutoring services that change the trajectory of my students’ and clients’ lives, empowering them to achieve academic growth, confidence, and joy in lifelong learning.

Vision

My heart has always been called to advocating for individuals with special needs, from pre-school to young adult and beyond.  I still remain in contact with many of my former students and their parents, even as their children are adults now.

My intention is to not only advocate on behalf of, but also inspire confidence and pride in every parent, child, and young adult that I work with. Individuality and uniqueness are what make us all special in our own ways, and encouraging the celebration of our differences is one of my greatest joys.
