When your child is in the process of qualifying for special education eligibility, as well after being identified with any specialized needs—including cognitive, physical, and/or emotional/social behavioral disabilities—it can be overwhelming to navigate how to best advocate for your child.  You may find that you need guidance on the services mandated by the law, or how to go about advocating for those services within the school system. I provide guidance and support for parents & guardians of children with special needs in a variety of ways, including:

• Collecting all the supportive documentation needed to obtain services

• Drafting communication, letters, emails, etc.

• Developing parent input and advocacy plans

• Creating customized solutions for your child

I will review your child’s paperwork to ensure all areas are adequately addressed and appropriate to your child’s individualized needs, according to documents such as the psychological report, the IEP or 504 document, any data collection or progress reports, and any evaluations. I will provide you with a written list of recommendations to present to your child’s IEP/504 team.

Sometimes students may struggle with social, emotional, and/or behavioral skills, related to building and maintaining healthy relationships, understanding and managing one’s emotions, developing and pursuing goals, and learning/growing from experiences.  In Social/Emotional/Behavioral Skills Coaching, I focus on the individual’s sense of self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. My tailored approach focuses on empowering children and young adults with the tools they need to succeed interpersonally.

As adolescents and teens continue to mature, it is often helpful to begin to consider life after graduation.  Navigating the complex world of social dynamics, community involvement, and personal interests can be overwhelming at times.  Life Skills Coaching and Guidance can provide clarity, build confidence, and inspire new ways of looking at the world.
